OPCs – Nature’s Powerful Antioxidant

Free radicals form part and parcel of normal physiological processes in the human body, such as energy production. That’s why intense physical exercise generates free radicals. Although we cannot live without them, free radicals are destructive and can damage cells and tissues.
They have been implicated in many physiological processes including ageing. Therefore, protection from the destructive aspects of free radicals is a vital factor in age management. Life has developed ways to use free radicals for all intents and purposes, while also protecting us from their harmful effects. These effects are also known as ‘oxidative stress’ and, logically, substances known as antioxidants can help to release us from it. Food-borne antioxidants such as vitamin C and OPCs form an integral part of the mechanisms that the body uses to deal with oxidative stress. These and other antioxidants have been shown to exert beneficial effects in situations associated with increased oxidative stress.
